Can't enable recycle bin

Hello,

Using 25.04.01. I would like to enable recycle bin on SMB shares, but the checkbox “export recycle bin” is greyed out in the advanced share settings, not sure why?

Switch the share purpose to NO_PRESET. This is not a feature we expose by default because it’s generally inferior to other ZFS features like snapshots.

Thanks, it worked, is there any risk using this?

Not really, but it’s cumbersome and contrary to the name, not integrated into the OS recycle bin.

OK thanks, I’m fine with the ‘manual’ management of the bin, I still prefer this to snapshots, at least for now.

Note that you can still use snapshots (which have saved a lot of people from data loss).
