Hello everyone, wish everyone well and great community.
I have a question about the data transfer speed to nvme raid 0 and sata ssd raid 0 running the latest version of TrueNAS over 10Gb NIC. please allowing me to share my hardware setup for information only.
HP Z8 G4 dual Xeon cpu, 128Gb RAM, 10Gb NIC, nvme RAID 0 using HighPoint SSD7540 using pci-e gen 3 with 8 of 4Tb nvme. LSI 9399-16i set as RAID 0 using pci-e gen 3 with 12 of 4Tb sata SSD.
When copy data from windows 11 to nvme RAID 0, achieving nearly 10Gb NIC bandwidth at 1Gb+/- constant. my 128Gb RAM used 110Gb as cache, the highest data rate from any system over the same hardware. but when copying the same data to sata ssd RAID 0, I am getting between 300Mb to 1Gb true speed, mostly at 500Mb.
can anyone point out as to why sata RAID 0 of 12 sata SSD using pci-e gen 3 which is 12Gb running so much slower? any advise is appreciated. Thank you all for taking the time looking over my first post. Happy Friday
FYI. I am using HP Z840 dual xeon with 10Gb NIC 7 x 14Tb HDD set RAID 0 to back up my ssd system. here seeking the fastest data transfer rate.
