Disk was erroring then stopped?

I recently upgraded from a hp z420 to a z820 for my machine. The harddrives were throwing massive errors and for some reason we decided to swap the towers out. I had 2 errors right off the bat with this drive then no more since.

For help purposes let me explain exactly what was going on. I copied all the files onto another windows machine and completely reworked the truenas system from the ground up. Several people has had their hand in the settings on that setup and I wanted to know exactly what was set to what. I did a full reinstall and even wiped and reset up the harddrives. Then copied all the files back over.

I started having issues right away with the files themselves. Most notibly the thumbs.db files in the video folders. I would have to create a new folder, copy the video file into that folder then wait a while before I could delete the old folder. Sometimes I could delete the old folder contents then the folder and it would work. Other times I could delete the old folder right away, no problem. Sometimes I even had to close the old folder, open another, close that one then I could delete the old video folder.

With this new machine I did a fill clean install yet again and copied the files over. The drive threw 2 errors almost immediately but then I finished moving the video files and getting rid of the old folders and it has not thrown an error since that Truenas has reported. In the old machine, I was getting 10+ errors a DAY. I have now been up and running on this machine for a couple days with only those initial 2 errors flagging. here is the smartctl log for the drive. Should I replace it or was there something in those files that the drive didn’t like?

At face value, your problem appears to be the data cable to the drives, well that is the most common problem for these indications.

Check out the link in my signature “Drive Troubleshooting Flowcharts” and follow those. If it fails to help, please provide me some feedback so I can improve the flowcharts, but they do cover most issues.

Cheers

Ok wasn’t sure where to find the “repaired data” thing.
but I did a zpool clear and running a scrub now on it. This is a raided drive too.
