Hello - hopefully i’m posting in the correct forum to ask a question regarding my TrueNAS build and some issues i’ve started seeing about two weeks ago. This build has been running fine for about a year without issues.
I’ll start with the hardware specs.
TrueNAS version = 25.10.4 - Goldeye
mobo = B650D4U-2L2T/BCM
CPU = AMD Ryzen 9600X
Memory = 4X crucial Pro 48GB (memtest pass)
HBA = currently HBA 9400-16i, FW 24.00.00.00
PSU = Thermaltake Toughpower GT 750W
Case = Rosewill RSV=4000U-SK, modified with 2x Rosewill 4 bay 3.5 hot swap bays
VDEVS = HDD Pool, 7x seagate iron wolf 4TB, 1x 8TB(it’s all I could find) configured in RAIDZ2, SSD Pool, 8x Intel DC3520 1.6TB, configured in RAIDZ2. These 16 drives are connected to the HBA.
now on to the issue
Over the last two weeks I’ve been receiving random uncorrectable errors on random drives, only in my HDD pool. i’ve confirmed the drives are in separate hot-swap enclosers. checking smart status it shows the drive is healthy and fine, manually running scrub task are not reporting the drives as having issues.
I’ve replaced the following
SFF-8643 SATA cables on both hot-swap bays
HBA, was using the alliexpress version of the 9305, replaced that recently with the 9400-16i.
At this point i’m wondering if it’s the powersupply failing but i don’t want to keep spending money without knowing, and i understand it’s hard to know for sure, but i’m thinking that’s the next logical piece to replace. according to the BMC controller on the motherboard 12V is reading 12.1V.
Not sure what other info i should post here, but here’s the output of one of the drives smart check that truenas is currently reporting (from the GUI) read/write, and checksum errors.
