Do NOT update TrueNAS from 24.10.2 to 25.04.2 immediately

Many users are watching the changes to virtual machines in 25.04 and may be looking to upgrade to 25.04.2 once it’s officially released.

Unfortunately, multiple users have reported failures of libvirt-based virtual machines after upgrading. Please follow this ticket:

The question is did they upgrade from 24.10.2 to 25.04 and then to 25.04.2 or directly?

No one has clearly stated the upgrade path yet. My guess is that it will be a direct upgrade.

Here is a simple fix:

HOWTO: Fix Virtual Machines: Cannot Retrieve Response in 25.04.2

The bug in 25.04.2 that causes the Virtual Machines page to error with “Cannot Retrieve Response” has been fixed in 25.04.2.1, but the fix can be easily applied to a 25.04.2 installation. WARNING: ONLY USE THIS ON 25.04.2!
