FileBrowser 403 error in only one folder

FileBrowser won’t let me move/copy files from my downloads directory to other directories on my NAS (same dataset). I can move/copy file from other directories and literally everything works, except for moving/copying files FROM my downloads dir (I can move/copy file INTO it, but not out…).

Downloads is a dataset, as is video and all others.

ACLs should be set correctly, but I’m far from being an expert on this. Last thing I’ve tried is switching the owner of the datasheets to “apps”, but didn’t help either.

Here the error from the log:

/srv/downloads/file.mkv: 403 fdd0:0:0:3::1 chmod /data/srv/video/Serien/random_show/file.mkv: operation not permitted

This error suggests that you may need to set the ACL Mode on the Downloads dataset to “Passthrough”.

Take a look at the description of ACL Mode on this page: Datasets | TrueNAS Documentation Hub

I’ve already tried variations of it, from passthrough to restricted… doesn’t work. Do I need to reboot the system for it to fully take effect?

As far as I’m aware, you don’t have to reboot. In my experience, these changes take effect immediately.
