It seems there is no small talk area on the new forum, so I am writing this here.
The recent discussions about the roadmap have confirmed a “sub-conscious” feeling that I have had pretty much since the new forum was introduced and the way in which this was carried out. So it is time for me to move on and say good bye to FreeNAS/TrueNAS.
Thank you, Chris, for all your insights over the years, both here and in the old forum.
If I got anywhere in FreeNAS / TrueNAS / etc. it is because I benefitted from folk like you, the others listed in this email, and unlisted folk like jgreco that allowed me to see a lot further than I could have without the help and guidance. Thank you all!
@ChrisRJ I completely understand. From your posts I think you and I work or at least have worked at a similar level in organisations and I’m sure you’ve seen this sort of stuff before and will again. Your contributions over the years have been invaluable and insightful and I do hope you will continue to contribute where you can.
Sometimes for things to change they need to go to a place we don’t like or agree with but often these difficult times can be a catalyst for change.
Chris, it has been a pleasure exchanging ideas and I have learned quite a bit from you. I recall the very first thing you taught me, that was in a Bash script . "filename" means to echo the listed file. That was a huge thing to me and while it is a simple command, it was exactly what I needed. It is the little things in life, right?
