Hi everyone,
I’m seeing a persistent GUI error on my TrueNAS SCALE 25.10 system when I open “Datasets” in the web interface.
The message says:
Failed to load datasets
casesensitivity: failed to get property
Setup description
I have two TrueNAS SCALE systems:
- Droptank → the source system
- Dropbox → the target system (used as replication destination)
Replication is set up for three independent dataset trees:
Nextcloud(Nextcloud app data)Immich(photo storage)Private(general data archive)
Each replication target lives under:
Speichertonne/Backup/Droptank
Here’s an excerpt from the target system (Dropbox ):
NAME USED AVAIL REFER MOUNTPOINT
Speichertonne/Backup/Droptank 278G 5.06T 104K /mnt/Speichertonne/Backup/Droptank
Speichertonne/Backup/Droptank/Immich 138G 5.06T 112K /mnt/Speichertonne/Backup/Droptank/Immich
Speichertonne/Backup/Droptank/Immich/data 138G 5.06T 138G /mnt/Speichertonne/Backup/Droptank/Immich/data

Speichertonne/Backup/Droptank/Nextcloud/data 33.4G 5.06T 33.4G /mnt/Speichertonne/Backup/Droptank/Nextcloud/data
Speichertonne/Backup/Droptank/Nextcloud/db 78.6M 5.06T 69.9M /mnt/Speichertonne/Backup/Droptank/Nextcloud/db
Speichertonne/Backup/Droptank/Private 107G 5.06T 96K /mnt/Speichertonne/Backup/Droptank/Private
What I’ve checked so far
When I checked the casesensitivity property, it seems valid:
zfs get casesensitivity Speichertonne/Backup/Droptank
NAME PROPERTY VALUE SOURCE
Speichertonne/Backup/Droptank casesensitivity sensitive -
So the dataset does have the property set correctly.
Everything else seems to work fine — replication continues, mounts are correct, and I can browse the data via CLI.
Current behavior
- The error only appears in the Datasets section of the GUI.
- All command-line operations (
zfs list, zfs get,zfs mount, replication) work normally. - It looks like the web UI fails to read a property on received datasets.
Questions
- Is this a known issue in SCALE 25.10?
- Should I manually set or inherit the
casesensitivityproperty on replicated datasets, or is it better to leave it untouched until a fix is released? - Would it help if I exported a full
zfs get allfor these replicated datasets?
Additional context
I have not yet modified any of the replicated datasets or changed properties manually — they are in their original, received (readonly) state.
Replication tasks continue to run normally, and no data seems affected.
Thanks in advance for your help and insights!
