Hi all, I’m thinking of taking the plunge and setting up a truenas box with the following components
- **Chassis:
1 x R730xd 26SFF (SAS/U.2) [iDRAC Enterprise] - 6 PCIe Slots
- **Processors (CPU):
2 x Intel Xeon E5-2643 V4 6-Core 3.40GHz (3.70GHz Boost, 135W)
- **Memory (RAM) (192GB):
24 x 8GB - DDR4 2133MHz (PC4-17000, 2Rx4)
- **Storage Controller (RAID):
1 x H330 (SAS/SATA) RAID Kit - 0/1/5/6/10/50/60/Non-RAID
- **Rear SFF Storage (800GB):
2 x 400GB - SAS (12G) SSD - Enterprise
- **Network
1 x 1GbE (Quad Port) RJ45 Ethernet - Dell I350
- **Power Supplies:
2 x Dell PowerEdge ‘Platinum’ Hot-Swap PSU 750W
idea will be to have the 2 rear bays in mirror to hold OS, and the 24 front slots being populated with u.2 SSDs to create a high speed temporary storage device.
I also have a lsi hba that will be installed to connect to a larger slower storage chassis. and a 40gbe card to connect to a workstation.
I thinking of swapping out the H330 for a hba330 as i read that flashing the h330 to hba mode has caused some issues for users, but i willing to test this out.
Any advice would be much appreciated
