Hello,
im quite new to TrueNAS and i want to request help.
I have an interesting problem in that my HDDs don’t spin down no madder what.
I have tried multiple things including:
- Setting the HDD Standby to 10 min and to spin down (Level 1)
- turning off SMART
- having an HDD not in a pool
- running the “hdparm -s 0 /dev/sdh” command in the shell
After trying so many things I am at the end of my ideas.
My Server setup:
Hardware
Dell PowerEdge T330
CPU: Xeon E3-1240 v6
RAM: 16 GB unregister ECC
SAS Card: PERC H730 Adapter
Disks: (i know its not optimal)
1x 8TB HDD
3x 4TB HDD
3x 3TB HDD
1x 2TB HDD (spare)
1x 1TB SSD (SATA)
Software
Main-OS: XCP-ng 8.3
TrueNAS: 24.10.2
pool-1: ZFS1
1x 8TB
3x 4TB
pool-2: ZFS1
3x 3TB
boot-pool:
35 GB Virtual SSD on the 1TB SSD
Infos
The SAS Card has been passthured to TrueNAS.
The Dell idrac can still see the drives and some information.
Assumption
Ether the dell idrac is preventing the spin down.
Or the Passthrue is the reason
Or TrueNAS is not configured correctly.
