HELP for new hardware for truenas scale

Hi there,
I’d like to upgrade my PC to TrueNAS Scale, because the one I have is almost at its limit. I’m starting with a mATX case with a power supply.

Current use: Plex, Nextcloud, Photoprism, Deluge,
Future use: the same as before + Pi-hole, install some VMs, and other things that may arise.

My research is focused on:

  • Motherboard (mATX form factor with 4 SATA drives, 2 NVMe drives, ECC RAM, and Intel network chipset)
  • CPU (ECC-compatible): AMD Ryzen 5 5600XT???
  • RAM: 2x16 ECC
  • NVMe SSD: 2x 500GB NVMe (I would use them as backup to install apps and VMs)
  • Storage: I would use the 2 WD 2TB drives (that I already have) in RAID 1, with the possibility of adding 2 more in the future or replacing the current ones and installing 4 new ones (to be evaluated).
  • Boot Disk: (I already have a 64GB SSD) If I use the 4 SATA drives and 2 NVMe connectors, I’m still wondering where to install the boot disk: could I get a PCIe card to install an M2 SSD, or can I use a USB port for this purpose?

I’d like to spend no more than €400 (I’m also considering used ones).
Can you give me some advice/links?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

This board checks a lot of your requirements.

Not used it myself.

It’s perfect. There’s only one problem: it’s too expensive. Maybe I expressed myself poorly: €400 for everything.
However, I may have found a solution (which costs around €380):

  • ASUS PRIME B550M-K
  • AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 5655G
  • 2x16GB RAM ECC UDIMM
  • 10Gtek® Gigabit PCIE Network Card for Intel I210-T1
  • 2 x Patriot P320 512GB Internal SSDs - NVMe PCIe Gen 3x4 - M.2 2280

What do you think?

Just food for thought, on the Intel side, with a “proper” Server board with IPMI:
