I finally got the CPU. Ryzen Pro 7 3700. Installed it. For some reason it took like three reboots (which may have been me being impatient with how slow these server grade boards reboot) but it finally booted to the initial TrueNAS page.
Unfortunately I didn’t realize I was out of CPU paste, I had a little, but not enough to give a good coating. So once I got there I shut down the system. I’ll order some and in the meantimne install the 6q
hey everyone, I marked this a solved since the CPU replacement seems to have fixed things. So now I’m transferring files from my windows box to the truenas server. Pretty slowly over my gig backbone, but I don’t really have a choice.
Once I get that done, I’m sure I’ll have more questions. Gonna let things settle and then see about adding in a google-photo like setup and then plex or jellyfin. and might even make another truenas server and put it in a small building in our back yard as a secondary backup for the most important stuff. Probably use existing hardware and keep the pool really simple.
