How to add Apps to a Z20 TrueNAS Scale Enterprise install

I have a Z20 that I just upgraded to TureNAS Scale 24.10.0.2. Does anyone know how to install the Apps section on an Enterprise installation?

Wait, a Z-series?

Because the Z-series predated SCALE entirely, I imagine the license you had baked into it doesn’t have any knowledge that Apps even exist. Can you DM me your serial number and I’ll see if I can look it up?

If you can’t DM me, let me know and I’ll open the conversation.

I deleted your S/N, just in case, but I’ve got it. Thanks.

Thank You,
Can I use TrueNAS Core instade?

I did see this in the DOCs

TrueNAS Enterprise-licensed systems do not have applications available by default. To enable applications as part of the Enterprise license, consult with iXsystems.

Only install qualified applications from the Enterprise applications train with the assistance of iXsystems Support.

That is still referring to SCALE Enterprise Apps.

It looks like your system is (as expected) quite outside of active support. You can use either of the TrueNAS Community Edition versions, but you would not be able to use the dual-controller High Availability of your Z20. You could eject the standby/second controller (which would also save you some watts) if that’s not an issue.

That is not an issue. Were can I get the TrueNAS Community Edition versions?

You’ll figure it out.

Straight from the website here:

Although you may be able to simply remove the active license, avoiding the reinstall.

That is the website I downloaded from. I did do a fresh install, and it still came up as an enterprise edition. how do I remove the active license?

Before proceeding, do you have any data on this system? If you do, be very careful as you’re doing things that could put the data at risk when you switch between HA and non-HA modes.

Make sure to disable HA in the webUI and physically eject the secondary/standby controller from the chassis to ensure it doesn’t just cross-replicate the config back (or worse, import the pool on both controllers) then install SCALE/CE on the primary node only.
