I want Suggestions for Managing Storage Efficiently on TrueNAS SCALE

Hey everyone,

I am new to TrueNAS SCALE & exploring all the amazing features it offers. I set up a home lab with SCALE running on a small server build, mainly for backups, media storage & a few containers. Things are working fine so far but I am trying to better understand the best practices for managing datasets, permissions & snapshots with multiple users accessing the system.

Also, I have noticed a few performance hiccups when dealing with larger files & I want to know if there is any tweak or configuration tip I might be missing?

I finished a CSM training program related to cloud systems & it made me curious about integrating SCALE with hybrid environments. Has anyone here tried something similar?

I Appreciate any tips, tricks or guidance you can share.

Thank you.

My understanding is StorJ has a object mount to allow you to mount your cloud storage into a high-performance local file system. So that would be a hybrid storage system. I have seen random posts on this that it is available and doable for Truenas. StorJ is also integrated as the backup solution for Truecloud Backup Tasks. Be sure to create a bucket from the backup tasks for it to work correctly. ( I think there may be a tweak or two specific to the bucket for the backup task.)

You should give us your current system, specs, layout, and main intended use as this may impact answers as to suggestions of how to best apply the system.
