I have been running into intermittent kernel panics. I have tried enabling kernel crash logging but it doesn’t seem to be saving the crash logs when I check /var/crash/ (it only has the lock file). I was going to try installing kexec-tools, kdump-tools, and linux-crashdump via apt but I am now on 25.10.01 GoldenEye and apt seems to be symlinked to pkg_mgmt_disabled.
Hardware: Ryzen 5 1500x, GTX 1060 3gb, and 48gb of non-ecc DDR4 RAM. (This issue seems to persist no matter which RAM I have installed)
Any tips / help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!
How do you know they are kernel panics?
With that specific processor it could be it crashing due to poor handling of idle power states.
You fix that by going into the BIOS and setting Power Supply Idle Control to Typical.
If you don’t have that option, update your BIOS and check again, if it’s still not there (make certain) the next option is to disable C6 states in the BIOS.

I’ve made the changes and will monitor it for a few weeks. If everything is stable now I’ll mark this as the solution.
I had thought it was due to a kernel panic because of the system locking up completely and my keyboard wouldnt even light up.
Thanks for your help!
