Huh. The service has now started twice in a row automatically after adding
exec >/tmp/rc.log 2>&1
set -x
as @pmh suggested.
I’ll add this to the icecast jail and see if it will consistently start, or else at least I’ll get the errors.
The latter. You get a complete log of everything executed and all the output.
Another point to my patrickBSDmessiah theory.

any general solution here? I don’t understand the log file… so…
