Linux 6.12 Nightly Images Available

previous days build was ok it seems. maybe a bad download or a bad file for today the 7th

my intel gen 15 Arrow Lake GPU is now usable on Trueday SCALE. Thank you. Was hoping for this sooner than 25.04.

Welcome to the nightly crazy-train. Things will be periodically broken. This issue should be fixed in next nightly.

Will the Incus management API and client work?

Will existing VMs migrate automatically from TrueNAS to Incus VMs?

Incus client / CLI will work, similar to how docker can be used from CLI.

Existing VMs are not planned to auto-migrate at this time. (New batch of settings that will not cleanly migrate) But we are working to ensure post-upgrade there will be a one-time process we provide to import the existing VMs disk image into the Incus managed system.

I haven’t tried the existing Docker support yet, as I hadn’t been keeping with the major updates. Glad to hear the Incus client / CLI will work.

One time post-upgrade manual conversion to Incus VMs works, too. Thanks!

I just installed and started Fangtooth-25.04.0-MASTER-20241212-005644.

For Incus (under Containers (WIP)), I don’t see a way in the Web admin UI to add a container registry, like a Docker container registry. I presume that may not be in the UI to start. Or maybe that is still intended to be handled in the Apps section (which I think directly uses Docker / Docker Compose?).

Incus isnt really meant for running application containers (Docker/OCI containers).
It can do it and this part is in active development but mainly its meant for running system containers (LXC) or VMs (QEMU).

Read this to better understand the difference. About containers and VMs - Incus documentation

My understanding is that Docker and the Docker apps system will coexist with Incus and the Container system for Lightweight and Heavy VMs.

This is not like when docker replaced k3s.

Yes, they can coexist just fine.

Testing some nightlies, nice progress.

Is there somewhere to discuss the changes, make suggestions where I won’t get shut down by the folks who scream about not running betas / dev mode etc?

I found one bug (form validation error on adding azure credential where an endpoint error is piped into the credential entry causing an error about exceeding a 1024 char cred).

also would like to understand what, if any, plans for making LXCs able to access data sets / data sets subdirs more easy.

Bugs and suggestions (Feedback) should be submitted using the GUI in TrueNAS. Smile icon on upper right of GUI for Feedback/Report A Bug.

Stick to the forum posts with the titles for Beta or Nightly. Create clear titles if you need a new thread. Nightly 25.04, Beta 25.04…

thanks will do that for threads

i tried submitting something via the smiley face - suggestion on UI change for LXC on the LXC page and i am unclear the submit button did anything - is it supposed to provide me feedback that the item was submitted?

-edit-
submitted my Azure blob backup credential form validation error error (wrong error is thrown) as a bug - that worked, though seeing it now in Jira i want to clean it up and cant

Good question. That happens to me also and I just thought it was my Firefox plugins or add ons. At least with reporting a bug, I get Jira emails.

@HoneyBadger @kris , Is there any sort of indication on Feedback submits in TrueNAS?

Issue on our side, being fixed today so that nightly / 25.04-BETA1 feedback button submits properly.

fabulous, and my bug report i did yesterday was already fixed (PR created in github) even though it was a minor bug with a workaround - impressive
