Many of us run MeTube in a container on TrueNAS. I wrote two Android clients for it and opened the source this week.
The one that matters for a shared server is MeTube Lite: after a download finishes it pulls the file to the phone and then deletes it from the server, so /mnt/.../downloads does not grow forever. MeTube Super is the opposite — it keeps everything on the server, streams from it, and adds tags, batch downloads and offline pinning.
Two things specific to a TrueNAS setup are worth knowing before anyone tries it:
DELETE_FILE_ON_TRASHCAN=truemust be set on the MeTube container, or deleting removes the history row and leaves the file on disk. Lite will report success truthfully and your pool will still fill up.DOWNLOAD_DIRS_INDEXABLE=trueis what lets the apps pull and stream the files back.

The apps download nothing themselves — your MeTube server does all the work, they just drive it and read the result. Arabic and English, GPL-3.0, and not affiliated with the MeTube project.
