NAS beeping but cant find the reason

Hi everyone,
lately my NAS, after a few hours of run time, starts to beep wildly but everything seems to be normal. I have two storage pools which seems to be healthy. Temperatures are OK

The pattern of the beeps is one long beep every 20 seconds.

OS is TrueNAS-13.0-U3.1

System specs are the following
Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1220 v3 @ 3.10GHz
32 GB ECC ram
MOBO supermicro X10SLL-F-O
Two storage pools with 6 disks each (6*4TB + 6x10TB)

a big thank you to anyone who will help me troubleshoot this issue

ps I’ve already check the beep codes of the motherboard but couldn’t find any pattern similar to what I am experiencing

You sure it is the computer doing the beeping? I have seen drives that are failing generate a beeping tone while the try and recalibrate.

Or perhaps the UPS? Whenever my APC is unhappy with a battery it starts beeping too, even if the power is still on.

definitely not the UPS… beeping comes from the computer

regarding the disks… it may be, but SMART doesn’t report any error so how can I check?

Have you tried rebooting?

yes rebooted many times

Try logging into the IPMI controller–does it indicate any system errors?

Beeps on motherboards are usually made by little black cylinders with a round hole in the center. Verify you can find the thing and that it’s doing the beeping by putting your finger over the hole. If the beep is attenuated, it’s the piezo speaker.

If you have an IPMI, I’d log into that and see what messages are scrolling by. There ought to be some interesting messages…

It’s there–all the Supermicro -F motherboards have them.

IPMI event log is empty

I really wish there would be another way to see where the beep is coming from without opening the case…

any particular logs I should check?

IPMI also gives you access to the system console–anything showing up there?

IPMI will also show system health - temps and fan speeds and power supply voltages. It could be cpu over temp which is one long beep. If the chassis has dual redundant power supplies, one is unplugged, has a bad fan, or is overheating there will be a beep for those. Maybe it’s the intrusion alarm if that is enabled. All of this should show up somewhere in the IPMI console tabs but does not always show up in any IPMI logs. At least in my experience.
