No option to create CD-ROM device for virtual machine

So I’m trying to create a Windows 10 virtual machine on TrueNAS Scale v25.04.1

Having a lot of difficulty and then I realized there is no option to add a cd-rom device to the VM. (I was attaching iso’s as ‘drives’ … which I was able to boot into - but was never able to load drivers, because there were no cd-roms attached to browse.)

So when I open my instance and select the win-vm : add devices only shows the options of - “USB Devices” / “TPM” / “PCI Passthrough”

So how do I add CD-ROMs?

This is apparently a known issue with TrueNAS 25.04.1. I found a work-around! Rather than adding your ISO the normal route and adding a CD-ROM (missing) you can add a ‘disk’ (same as adding a second HDD) but instead of pointing it to a VHD, you point it to the ISO and boot from it. It will require you to temporarily shutdown the VM after installation is complete so you can remove the other disk (ISO) but it works!
