TrueNAS Core, 2 jails, one housing Nextcloud 29.0.6 the other one housing Plex, both on 13.3-RELEASE-p5. The Plex jail updates to 13.3-RELEASE-p7 using the “update” button in TN, the Nextcloud jail doesn’t and returns a comment "no update available for [jail] ". Does that even make sense?
Is it wise to upgrade to 13.4-RELEASE instead without break stuff?
13.3 will be EOL end of 2024. That means pkg upgrade and provisioning new jails will break.
I run mine on 13.4 and I am not experiencing any issues. There is a small number of similarly positive reports in various threads on this forum.
So I suggest to plan for some maintenance time, take snapshots (iocage does that for you, anyway), and just try it as soon as convenient, before it becomes an urgent matter
I know. But I find it odd that one would report -p5 and the other -p7 if they are indeed all basejails.
EDIT: Unless the GUI (or wherever) is not showing the true value, and needs to be “refreshed”. Which is why I think bypassing the GUI with iocage can determine if the jail is really on -p5.
EDIT 2: The heck is going on with me? I read the very portion I quoted as “-p5”. This is what it looked like to me, I swear!
EDIT 3: Winnie logging off the forums permanently out of shame.
That is for the weekend then, when there is time to fix in case it goes south. I also need to update to 29.0.8 but wanted to wait until the Q3 closure was completed, which it is now.
I would have expected that to come up on the GUI updater but it hasn’t yet. I am assuming it will at some point in time or doesn’t it work like that with major releases?
