Permissions questions

Hello everyone,

I am currently running TrueNAS-13.0-RELEASE, which has been very stable and reliable. However, I am facing an issue related to file permissions.

When a user edits a file (for example, XLSX or DOCX files), the file permissions change automatically, and the file owner is also modified after saving the file.

Has anyone experienced this behavior before?
Are there any recommended settings or best practices to prevent permissions and ownership from changing unexpectedly?

Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Is Active Directory involved? Please post as much detail as you can on how you have the share set up, how users access it and under what credentials, etc.

Would also be helpful to see how you’ve setup permissions in the dataset ACL config.

Windows is used as Active Directory (AD).Users and groups are created in Windows and mirrored/synchronized to TrueNAS.

Below are some screenshots as requested.

Is there any other information I should post?

Thank you in advance again…

Something is wrong, the site won’t let me upload screenshots or add a link.

Trying…

Leave the user and group as default root/wheel. Lose all the default ACL entries owner@, group@ and add the groups you want with the relevant permissions.
