so looking at a HW upgrade.
I have the following… Gigabyte+GA-B250M-D3H + Intel Core i5-7400 @ 3.00GH and 4 x 8GB DDR4 RAM.
- 1 x 8 port LSI controller and
- 1 x x520 10GE dual port Fiber card.
looking at upgrading with

I can either add a
- 1 x 16 port LSI card and
- 1 x x520 10GE dual port Fiber card.
or
(already have)
- 2 x 8 port LSI controller and
- 1 x x520 10GE dual port Fiber card.
planning on 64GB RAM build.
750W power supply with 4 x Accessory power outputs, each capable of 4 or 6 SATA connections.
Case wise, not really finding anything I like, and fit my pockets so was thinking of getting a old micro ATX case and cutting the back plane, the MB mount board and the power supply you mounting board out and build a case.
Looking at 3 x 5 HDD / 3.5" cages each with it’s own fan, a fan inside to blow over the cards and then 1 fan at the back in extractor config.
I have about 5u of rack space at 500mm deep to pack it into.
There are also various front loading 12 bays online available… but leaning to rather just doing my own…
Comments.
