Hello all.
Setup is TrueNAS Core on a Dell PowerEdge R720 with 8 LFF drives. OS is on a separate drive (SSD mounted in drive sled). RAIDZ2 with 7 (8TB) drives, 1 configured for the hot spare. Well, a few months ago, one of my drives failed a SMART test. Knowing I had a hot spare, I basically ignored it. However, I do check on my pool pretty much daily. Well, yesterday afternoon it finally happened. The drive faulted. But the system did its thing and the hot spare was brought in, the pool resilvered and finished its scan. Never lost a thing and never lost connection to my share.
However, the pool still shows as DEGRADED and I was wondering if all I need to do is OFFLINE and DETACH the FAULTED disk? I plan to buy larger drives one at a time to eventually grow the size of my pool.
For now though, is that all I need to do?
Also, I’m pretty sure I know what disk it is (physically) but is there a sure fire way to make sure?
Thanks all.
