Hey guys,
I’m trying to understand how i can make a replication task that backup all my snapshots to an USB drive.
I have various snapshots on certain shares, sometimes in a sub dataset. All snapshots start at midnight with same naming scheme and are working.
So i have a replication task with all dataset folder selected with the below configuration.
First of all at the bottom it states only 5 out of 19 would be replicated with this task.
I dont see how i can get all 19. Second i would expected when i want to restore, i can selected an older version to restore. But problably its for that reason there are only 5.
What do i do wrong?
You should be able to select your snapshot tasks from the ‘Periodic Snapshot Tasks’ menu dropdown.
Hmm that confuses me a bit, i thought recursive took care of that. However the number still stays at 5 of 19 at the bottom after selecting all snapshots
Remove your matching name schema and put a tick in all the snapshot schedules you want.
Ok, now it seems it might do everything. at least that message is gone.
My only question left. if i press restore i make it just creates a restore task.
If i edit i can select which folders to which directory.
But shouldn’t i be able to select somewere that i can restore yesterdays ‘backup’ instead of todays?
Or do i misunderstand how it works?
I want to have a few versions on my external HD. so if i want to restore i can restore from an earlier version. (And yes i know i can do it with snapshots, but what if my pool is dead and want to restore from my USB )
Not sure off the top of my head tbh so you will have to have a play.
Guess some thing are quite not obvious and some are intuitive.
If i go to my Usb Drive i can browse the folder diretory. and when i select that dataset i can just restore that snapshot. So my question is pretty much answered.
I still find it strange if i want to just restore, that i cannot just select the snapshot at ‘replication tasks’ which would feel the most logical.
So thanks for the help.
(If there is a way to do it from replication tasks i would like to know still)
