Restoring Unifi backup from native server

TrueNAS Scale 24.10
unifi-controller: App Version: 9.0.114, Version: 1.3.13

I’m able to install this app and open the web UI of the controller, where I’m greeted with the expected ‘new controller setup’ screen. It indicates it’s running controller version 9.0.114, which is the same version I was running natively in a Debian 11 VM.

I clicked the link to restore the controller from backup, then uploaded my backup file, with matching controller version. An overlay appeared with the message “Backup restoration is in progress. Your Network application will reboot during this process.”

Normally I would expect to see this message for 3 minutes or less, but after 20 minutes the screen has not refreshed. The TrueNAS Apps page shows the app status change from “Running” to “Deploying” and then it stays there. ‘netstat -lntp’ on the Truenas shell indicates that it is listening on 0.0.0.0:8443, but attempts to load the page in a new browser tab are refused by the server. htop show an idle CPU. Opening a shell in the container just gives a blank window.

I tried deploying the app a couple times. The first time I used the default ports and thought maybe it froze due to a mismatch with the configured ports in the backup. The second time I deployed the app I configured the ports to match those indicated in the backup, but the result was the same.

Any clues on how to successfully restore the Unifi app from a standalone server backup, or is a manual reconfiguration from a clean install my only option?
