RSYNC PULL from UGREEN NAS

Hi there,

been struggling with this so any help appreciated.

Basically a UGREEN push to TrueNAS is out of the question because it creates a proprietary backup file which isn’t much use on TrueNAS.

What I want is a mirror of files from source to target.

UGREEN support have suggested a TrueNAS pull.

But the rysnc app (now an app no longer a core part of TrueNAS it seems) wants a remote module… and all I have is an SMB share there.

What am I missing?

Thanks,

Mike

rsync just need a source and destination to work - you have the destination local on the TrueNAS.

Three options are obvious for a TrueNAS pull:

  1. rsync over SSH - that could be possible if you can access UGREEN from TrueNAS via SSH
  2. rsync from External Share - add external share on the TrueNAS, using the UGREEN’s SMB
  3. rsync from temporary cifs mount - this is the zsh way to do [2.] from the shell

Cheers
