Supermicro motherboard selection

  1. I am trying to find a website that lists past Supermicro motherboards with their features like number of x8/x4 PCIe expansion slots, accepted CPU’s, number of SATA ports, etc. So far I have just been finding these out by accident on eBay. I am looking at the Xeon E5 or Xeon D motherboards. I love these reference guides X10SRi-f Supermicro creates but where do I find a list of all these for the processors I am interested in. Is a x16 PCIe needed for anything in a NAS box? It seems like most graphics cards for transcoding are x8.

  2. What is the minimum CPU Mark score I should consider for TrueNAS with Plex 4k transcoding with up to 3 concurrent users. I don’t know where the sweet spot is in CPU Mark score and wattage to conserve power consumption

Go to the Supermicro site. They still have all or most of the stuff on there and you can look things up. I usually find it quicker to google something like Supermicro Motherboard H8DGU-F motherboard or Supermicro SC-847 4U 36 Bay double sided chassis manual and I can get results and look forthe ones from Supermicro. Going through the front door won’t always easily get you there.
