I currently own a Synology DS425+ and I want to migrate to TrueNAS or even better to have a TrueNAS system for primary use and keep backups into my Synology NAS system. I have arround 600GB of data mainly photos and documents.
I would just point you to the Documentation and Hardware Guide Section and the Resources sections of forum. A lot is covered

TrueNAS is not as simple as videos make it look, though it is fairly easy to get a system running if you read the documentation and don’t color outside the lines.
