The build is based on a old ASUS P877Z motherboard with an intel i5 3000 series processor. It has 16 Gb of RAM and 5 Seagate ironhorse 12TB drives. I also installed a 2.5gig nic. I’m currently only using three drives and now that all my backups are consolidated I find I don’t need quite as much space as I thought.

What is the brand / chipset of this NIC?

How are you cooling those drives?

This is the nic I purchased. Installed, recognized, and activated without a hitch. Amazon.com: 2.5Gb PCIe Network Card with Intel I226-V Chip, 2.5GBase-T Network Adapter NIC, PCIe 3.1 X1, PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Card for Windows 10/11, Linux Kernel 5.16.18/RHEL8.6, VMware ESXi8.0 : Electronics

The case has one front and one rear 120mm fan. The drive cage also has a fan in the back. Just to be safe I added an additional 120mm exhaust fan in the top of the case and it’s between the drive cage and the CPU cooler. So, in theory, heat from the drive cage will be drawn up through the added fan and not blow hot air directly into the CPU cooling tower.

So what is your drive arrangement?

LZ4 compression and the recommended config for RAID if that answers your question. Out of 30TB of raw disk there is 21TB available for the three configured drives.
