TrueCloud Restore: Cannot browse files (Subfolder only "/" and Included Paths empty) – 25.10.2.1

Hi all,

I’m testing TrueCloud Backups on TrueNAS SCALE 25.10.2.1 and ran into an issue with restoring individual files.

I created a test backup of a full dataset and snapshots are present. However, when I try to restore from any snapshot:

  • I select “Include from subfolder”

  • The Subfolder field only shows / (no directory structure)

  • Included Paths is always empty

  • This happens for all snapshots

So effectively, I cannot browse or select any files or folders for restore.

From the documentation, I expected that:

  • I can browse into subfolders

  • and select specific files/directories via “Included Paths”

Right now, this doesn’t seem to work at all.

I already found a few related forum threads describing somewhat similar behavior, but they didn’t clearly answer whether this is:

  • a bug

  • a limitation of the current implementation

  • or intended behavior

Questions:

  • Can anyone confirm if file/folder browsing during TrueCloud restore works on 25.10.2.1?

  • Is this a known issue or limitation?

  • Is there any workaround (besides restoring everything)?

Additional info:

  • Backup itself seems fine

  • I haven’t yet tested manual path input (if that is even supported reliably)

This feels like either a bug or incomplete UI implementation, but I’d like to confirm before opening a ticket.

When I attempt to restore - I can restore specific folders from a path style dropdown. I cannot restore specific files.

I would use this as a restore a folder / folder tree into a sperate dataset (in the above case /mnt/BigPool/restore) and then select individual files from there to copy back. Its not ideal.

Thanks for your feedback. I don’t even see folders …
So I guess the documentation is not correct when stating:

Select files and directories to include from the backup. Leave empty to include everything in the selected subfolder.

Happy if someone could confirm or deny my statement :slight_smile:

Definately cannot select files, but can fully tracerse the folder structure inside the backup
