It does not add much value for a single system, but if you want to run it for geek points, give it a spin. It’s easy to run with docker compose. Then you will see what it has to offer.
One thing TC does is provide the only “official” automated config backup system. At least, the only one to date–not sure if TN Connect is going to do something like this.
Its worth noting that TrueCommand provides support for a wide range of TrueNAS versions:
13.0
22.12
23.10
24.04
24.10
25.04
25.10
Its the best platform for managing the transition to 25.10. Due to the versioned API concept it will also support future TrueNAS versions (e.g 26.04)
It’s also possible to run TrueCommand airgapped.
TrueNAS Connect will become the primary prosumer management platform for 25.10 and beyond but will never be compatible with legacy releases and is not focussed on airgapped needs.
