25.04.0 Notable Changes
Notable changes since 25.04-RC.1:
Prevent cloned blocks remapping after device removal to avoid data corruption (NAS-133555).
Numerous improvements and bug fixes to the experimental Instances feature, including:
Allow configuration of IO bus for disk devices in Instances (NAS-134250). This enables users to create virtualized disks using a standard other than VirtIO in cases where the OS image does not by default include VirtIO drivers.
Improved upload speed for volume imports (NAS-134552).
New IO Bus configuration options for Virtual Machines (NAS-134393).
New IDMAP options for users and groups in Linux containers (NAS-134447).
Fixed bug to allow console access for VMs created with an iso file (NAS-134253).
Fix KeyError crash in ipmi.lan.query (NAS-134736).
Fix permissions for user app config file (NAS-134558).
Prevent upgrade failure if encrypted fields are not readable in the DNS auth table (NAS-134728).
Optimize Dashboard resource widgets and fetch metrics once per page load (NAS-132124).
See the Release Notes for more details.
How long until this is available to “Switch Trains” in the OS? I just tried on my 24.10.2.1 and it doesn’t offer the update yet… it shows it there; I choose it… nothing at all happens, no update offered. Will they be scheduled out over a period/overnight/etc?
PS: also just seeing the release candidate at the page in the link above still…
Thank you. The incognito mode solution worked for me.
Now, TrueNas itself will not download the update, but just as a question, I’ve exported the configuration I have, should I just launch the ISO and have it… install on top of the current configuration? Will it detect 24.10.2.1? If I choose “switch trains” I just get a series of pop ups that go nowhere right now
Same thing here. CTRL+F5 or opening the page in incognito view changes nothing. Fangtooth [release] is on the list, but the refresh circular button on the right seemingly does nothing as the text below says “no update available”.
On the downloads page, click the link Manual Update - Upgrade From CORE 13.0-U6.2 or SCALE 24.10 under the green button. Then click the link Download Manual Update TrueNAS 25.04.0 to download the .update file. You can then use that file in the TrueNAS UI to update manually.
I have cleared the cache and pressed the refresh button to the right of the selector multiple times. It does look like the switching part doesn’t work. I was on 24.10.2 and even after switching trains it still prompted me to updated to 24.10.2.1 (which I guess it shouldn’t?). Anyway, after updating to 24.10.2.1, there are no more available updated.
Updated from rc1 no issues. However truecommand 3.1, which I used to launch update, lost contact and complained about api key. Generated new api keys on nas and comms back.
We are working on a fix, we are going to pull the updates down temporarily whilst we resolve the update issue. Apologies for this, typically things have run pretty smoothly on release days recently but clearly we need to clean this up and quickly.
