I’m experiencing a weird issue after upgrading from TrueNAS 25.04-BETA.1 to 25.04-RC.1. After the upgrade, when I try to access my network drives, Windows Explorer freezes as soon as I click on a folder containing files. The loading cursor appears, and the window becomes unresponsive.
I tested this on a laptop connected to the same network drive, and the issue happens there too. Moving files to the drive also fails—the progress bar sits at 0% with no movement.
I tried rebooting TrueNAS, but the issue persisted. However, when I rolled back to 25.04-BETA.1, everything worked fine again.
Has anyone else encountered this?
My setup isn’t anything crazy - TrueNAS is running on an i9-12900T with 16GB RAM (13.3GB free), and CPU usage is around 4%. The drives are mounted on both my laptop and PC.
SMB shares have path-related configuration issues that may impact service stability: Backups: Path does not exist., Becky: Path does not exist., Data: Path does not exist., Madyson: Path does not exist., Movies: Path does not exist., Music: Path does not exist., Photos: Path does not exist., Scripts: Path does not exist.
And my network share TrueNAS was empty.
The problem, the pool was no longer mounted and I had to Import it to fix the problem and all my shares worked almost instantly.
I wish your problem was the same as mine was, it would have been an easy fix.
Hopefully the iX folks can figure it out. Until then you could roll back to the previous boot environment.
Good luck on this problem.
I just thought of something to try… restore a copy of your config file. During the update process one of the first questions it asks is to backup your config file. Try to restore that and see if that gets your pool back online. If not, then roll back.
Seems that I face similar issue like you guys, my pool works after migration to
25.04-RC.1 and Windows explorer is unable to use SMB share in proper way (in difference to for example Android app like file browser which use same share - no problem!)
Anyone got any fix for it ? I wonder if it will be possible at this moment to roll back to stable edition… Thanks!
