My understanding is that removing the option was an intentional decision by the devs due to the number of bug tickets that we’ve received from users not understanding the limitations like the SMB recycle bin not integrating with the client OS recycle bin, not always placing files at the same level in the file tree, accidentally exposing the recycle bin to other users, etc.
If there is enough community support to reverse that decision, then a feature request is the way to show that.
