On today’s episode of TrueNAS Tech Talk, Kris and Chris confirm what some of you were guessing - TrueNAS 26 is dropping the decimals! Find out the details about our new annual release cycle, how new features will be added, and the fish is cooked, no more codenames. We’ll look at some of the technical news from the past week - from Intel’s ZAM to WD’s “Dual Pivot” drives. Then it’s time for the soapbox - is AI about to have its “MP3 Moment”? From early CGI to self-driving cars, we’ll find the parallels of the past and look to the future. Finally, there’s time for some questions, including some ideas on USB booting.
With the move to a yearly release will there be a change to the month it will release?
E.g. will 26 still release in april or at a later date and will future releases then release in the same month that 26 was released?
Waiting on CE 25.10.2 ![]()
Great work Team TrueNAS! ![]()
Kris mentioned in the recent episode of T3 that they are no longer going to have this ‘artificial month timeline’ so I would guess the month could change and it will be released essentially when it’s ready but I may be wrong just guessing.
It’s going to be later in the year, we’re working towards the first BETA release at the moment, although we have 25.10.2 on deck.
As Kris talked about there will be multiple BETA releases & more time between these and the RC release, so the schedule will be longer to the .0 release later this year.
