TrueNAS BootDrives

Hi all, I am so new to TrueNAS and im not the best computer bod. I’m not sure what im letting myself into. So at the moment I’m running an old PC AMD Ryzen 5 Pro 3.4ghz with built in Radeon Vega Graphics……16gb of ramm
Currently I’m running an old usb portable hard drive as TrueNAS bootable drive and a single barracuda 8TB hard drive.
I have just ordered, (in fact I missed the post person today) 2 12TB iron wolf hard drives.
My question is, I’m looking at boot drives and was also looking at mirroring them.
What would you recommend, would you go for a cheep Amazon ??? Ie YUCUN 2.5 inch SAT 3 60gb SSD for about £11 or would you recommend something better.
Again I am new to this and don’t really know what I’m doing lol, it’s a home setup mainly for back up, photos, video etc, but would like to move into iCloud storage and maybe plexy…once I know how it all works

If you are physically present at the machine and can buy and change the SSD boot device, mirroring isn’t necessary. Keep a backup of your current configuration file and an ISO or USB copy of the version of TrueNAS you are running.

Replace ‘broken’ boot device with new one, install TrueNAS and then restore your configuration from the file. It doesn’t take very long for this process. It also saves you a drive port

Ok thanks, it’s just my first home setup at the moment, but can see how it’s going to grow. so want to try and make it the best I can for awhile. At the moment even changing the comfig isn’t a problem, but I would like to get this right on the off….
What boot drive would you recommend?

Try to pick the best quality you can. It is just used for boot but you don’t want to have unexplained troubles either.

Ok thanks, I do have a 1TB WD drive but at the moment it has windows ISO on it. I was a bit reluctant to remove it. But being a MAC man myself, I think it has to go
