I just did the upgrade using the update files (no clean install) from TrueNAS-13.0-U6.7 toward TrueNAS-SCALE-24.04.2.5.update.
Everything went really well in the upgrade process itself and I have a scale up and running.
The only thing I have issue is my pool, who used legacy encryption, is there but it seem none of the disk is associated to it.
I had basically a raid10 (2 mirror vdev). I can see the disks just fine (sda / sdb / sdc / sdf).
I can’t do an “Import Pool” in Storage.
I also can’t do the “Add to Pool” for the 4 Unassigned Disks to add them to an Existing Pool (the choice isn’t there to select my pool).
Is there a solution? I’m guessing it probably has to do with the encryption right? Since TrueNAS scale can’t read the pool on the disk?
You should have been more careful. Your geli encrypted pools can’t be imported in scale. And to quote from the official migration guide:
FreeBSD GELI encryption. If you have GELI-encrypted pools on your system that you plan to import, you must migrate your data from the GELI pool to a non-GELI encrypted pool before migrating.
I don’t know if it’s possible for you to roll back to core, migrate your data and then redo the sidegrade to scale. If you have backups, it’s propably easier to destroy the pool and restore from backup.
Alright, so I would need to migrate the data. I can’t decrypt the pool, migrate and encrypt it again.
Well, gonna check if I can get it up and running again, tried to do a fresh install of CORE 13.0-U6.7 but for some reason, the network who worked find since years doesn’t seem to work anymore (ip at 0:0:0:0), so gonna try to solve that, then try to rollback to fresh core and prepare all that.
