I am very new to TrueNas, never having used it before.
So my problem is the following and I would appreciate any help because I am stuck now for a few days.
So I have a Proxmox cluster with Ceph storage configured. The Ceph storage provides about 140TB of space that after changing our backup system is no longer used.
We want to use this storage as a datastore, presented to ESXi hosts so we can host our non-production systems on it, freeing up space on other storage systems so we can setup replication on them.
So at first I tried to install TrueNas core on the Proxmox host but I am not able to get the Ceph presented to TrueNas.
This would be the first choice way to go but I have read many threads and tried many steps but can’t get it to work. If anyone can provide detailed steps on getting this to work, then I would happily send you a case of beer for the help.
After giving up on that I tried to following, I installed TrueNas core on one of the storage nodes of the Proxmox and removed the Ceph config from that node.
I think set the disks up in a ZFS pool, presented it to TrueNas and I can create the Datastore and present it to the ESXi hosts through iSCSI.
I have a test cluster of 4 hosts that I am working on for this.
I am only able to see the Datastore on one ESXi host.
The other 3 hosts can see the targets but don’t attach the devices.
I have tried creating multiple network interfaces to create different paths to the different hosts but still have the same issue.
So I am looking for assistance with either option because I am not able to make progress on this.
Thank you for reading through this.
