TrueNAS GUI Frustrations

This is by no means any criticism of the system.

The Truenas Scale GUI has come leaps and bounds from the days of FreeNAS, and is evolving in becoming a better product appliance especially with the introduction of “Truenas Connect” functionality, but not all of us will want or require it.

But I have some frustration in the current GUI that could be improved.

I have listed below a few observations and inconsistencies that could be improved.

The below does not affect the running of the system, but it does give the user the ability to have the GUI set in a comfortable way to view/manage the appliance.

DashBoard:
The Dashboard is very configurable, and saved as per the users requirements.
This has been a winner.

Storage:
Ability to list Pools as per the users preference, and saved.

Dataset:
Expand or Collapse all, as per the users preference, and saved.

Shares:
Ability to choose what is displayed if services are not running, or list as per the users preference, and saved.

Data Protection:
Ability to display/list as per the users preference, and saved.

Containers:
Ability to remove/hide this option if not used.

Virtual Machines:
Ability to remove/hide this option if not used.

Apps:
I use my own Docker containers under this heading, and are managed via “Custom YAML Files”, but would like the ability to display/list as per the users preference, and saved.

Reporting:
The biggest bug bear, as it always reverts to a default view.
Ability to display/list as per the users preference, and saved.

System:
Advance Settings:
Display/List as per the users preference, and saved.
