TrueNAS SCALE 25.04.1 – Web UI Not Starting After Update

Hi,
I updated TrueNAS SCALE from version 25.04 to 25.04.1, and now the Web UI won’t start. However, I can still access the system via SSH, and SMB shares remain accessible.

Where can I check the logs to troubleshoot this issue?

I found some threads suggesting the command service middlewared restart to restart the middleware, but running this in the TrueNAS CLI shell didn’t work.

Please advise.

The issue has been resolved.

If you don’t mind me asking, how did you resolve it?
I ask in case your method can help a future user.

  • Connect the Server to a Monitor:
Physically connect your TrueNAS server to a monitor.
  • Reboot the Server:
Restart the system. During boot, the GRUB menu will appear, showing a list of available TrueNAS versions ( you won’t see this if you try to configure the system through SSH console).
  • Select the Previous Version:
Choose the version prior to the update (in this case, version 25.04) from the list. Press Enter to boot into that version.
  • Access the Web UI:
Once the system starts, you should regain access to the Web UI.
  • Update GUI Settings :
    Go to:
System Settings → General → GUI
Add your server’s IP address if it’s missing or incorrect, then save the changes.
  • Re-update to Version 25.04.1:
Once everything is confirmed to be working, re-initiate the update to 25.04.1 from the Web UI.

I tried this and after restart with the older Grub version, the WebUI is still not starting. Anyone else have an idea?

You can check the network settings in the console page under Options 1 and 2.
If the IP address is misconfigured, a warning will appear indicating that the Web UI is not accessible.

Yep, the weird part is that was all correct. By all appearances the webui should have worked.
