Hi,
I updated TrueNAS SCALE from version 25.04 to 25.04.1, and now the Web UI won’t start. However, I can still access the system via SSH, and SMB shares remain accessible.
Where can I check the logs to troubleshoot this issue?
I found some threads suggesting the command service middlewared restart to restart the middleware, but running this in the TrueNAS CLI shell didn’t work.
Connect the Server to a Monitor:
Physically connect your TrueNAS server to a monitor.
Reboot the Server:
Restart the system. During boot, the GRUB menu will appear, showing a list of available TrueNAS versions ( you won’t see this if you try to configure the system through SSH console).
Select the Previous Version:
Choose the version prior to the update (in this case, version 25.04) from the list. Press Enter to boot into that version.
Access the Web UI:
Once the system starts, you should regain access to the Web UI.
Update GUI Settings :
Go to: System Settings → General → GUI
Add your server’s IP address if it’s missing or incorrect, then save the changes.
Re-update to Version 25.04.1:
Once everything is confirmed to be working, re-initiate the update to 25.04.1 from the Web UI.
You can check the network settings in the console page under Options 1 and 2.
If the IP address is misconfigured, a warning will appear indicating that the Web UI is not accessible.
