We have an X-Series X10, dual controller, and I can’t seem to get to the x86 console of either controller. Our support contract lapsed in the spring, after X-series End Of Life.
When If I connect to the system console (using ipmitool or the USB console cable), each head is in SES (SCSI Enclosure Services) mode (with the ESM A/B prompt). The documentation says that $%^0 should switch to x86 console mode, but when I do, the console is unresponsive. I can switch back to SES mode with $%^2. I can connect to the IPMI Linux console as well, but don’t see a way to get to the x86 console from there. Any hints on how I can get console access back?
Second problem: This came up because I updated one controller, rebooted, and it didn’t come back. So I was trying to get to the console. A power cycle, or pulling the controller card and replacing (power cycle) will get the controller to boot some of the time. Any chance there’s a battery in the controller that needs to be replaced for reliable boot, or something like that?
Much obliged for any hints you can offer. Thanks!
