So I’ve got the 25.04 fangtail release running on my old T620 and have run into a problem trying to add in disks as another pool.
The main server chassis has the Storage1 pool with 8 disks.
The ToasterTray pool is the 24 disk tray thats connected via a sas expander and that was working ok but I had what looked like a drive fail so swapped in a spare, resilvered etc and looks fine now.
However, attatched to the back of the system I have a “Heath Robinson” esque old PC chassis stuffed with odds and ends of drives, an old mobo and the sas expansion card. Basicly the motherboard is just there to power up the expander and drives etc. No OS…
I fired up the (Array1) back end so I could take a complete backup of the ToasterTray but a. the pool in Storage had no drives and b. There wasn’t an option there to pull in all the 8 drives back into the pool.
when trying to import the disks into a pool it didnt list any drives as being available to import (or pools to import more specifically).
The Storage menus seem to see the drives and see that they did belong to the Array1 pool, but no dice.
I cleared the Array1 entry from the zpool list and tried to import again as a new entry, but again it’s not showing the option to pull in the drives etc.
Anyone got an idea for this? Reluctant to have to reformat all the drives and bring them in as fresh, but wouldn’t be the end of the world as I only use the Array1 system for periodic “off-site” backups. I tend to keep the Array1 box powered down unless needed as heat, power etc…
