I have tried every which way possible to update to latest and I always get this error:
[EFAULT] Error: unsquashfs failed with exit code -11: Parallel unsquashfs: Using 32 processors 96587 inodes (124301 blocks) to write
I tried through the ‘Install Update’. I tried via Manual Update and I tried via the CLI. All give that same error. I tried to do smaller incremental updates, like to 25.10.1 and 25.10.3 as well as to latest at 25.10.3.1 but it all gives that same error. I did verify that the hash was correct on all 3 update files.
I looked for the error code -11 for squashfs but can’t find any documentation on it that would indicate my problem.
I have nearly 22 GB of available memory, 3 TB of available space on my main hard drive and 190 TB of space in my primary pool.
Other than the update everything is running great and there doesn’t seem to be any system problems or other issues. I’m not sure how to proceed.
You can try downloading your current system configuration, doing a fresh install of 25.10.3.1 and uploading your system configuration back.
Otherwise, we would need full details on your hardware to try to guess at what is going on.
If you need to post screenshots, look for an introduction email or direct message and take the TrueNAS Bot tutorial. You should be able to do so after that.
To add to Barky’s recommendation, doing a clean install & importing the config file is pretty painless & takes just about as much time as a normal update would (unless you manually partitioned your boot pool or something crazy). Just don’t forget to save your config.
I am running into the same problem. After a fresh install and upload the old config. Any recommendation on procedure to restoring the previously installed Apps and its configuration with the datapoll?
after I did the fresh install I uploaded by old config I had saved and it loaded all my existing apps, pools and datasets. I didn’t have to do anything else.
I ran into this problem twice, and end up roll back to the last working version. I was worried that a fresh OS install require the Apps to be re-install and not sure what would happen to their data.
