Just documenting this in case it comes up again for myself or others, I’m not concerned and am not soliciting help.
TrueNAS-13.0-U6.4. My system reboots daily except for overnight Saturday/Sunday (energy conservation).
This morning I received two unexpected emails.
- First from 5:32AM which is a couple minutes after the system boots up.
The following alert has been cleared:
* smartd is not running.
- Second from 5:41 AM which is definitely after the system has been running for a while.
New alerts:
* smartd is not running.
Confused, I login to the server when I notice these emails and check out the alerts - no indication of smartd issues there. I copy out the console log in the WebUI to a text editor and search for smartd, no results.
I go to the services page, smartd is there and running. I check the log of smart tests on my disks, everything appears to be in order.
I don’t know, weird to get a notification that an alert was cleared and then get an alert about 10 minutes later that an alert is active but no indication of trouble.
