Update from 24.x over 25.04 fangtooth to 25.10 possible?

Hello,
I’d have the problem, that my new NIC didn’t work properly using DAC-cables with the drivers of trueNas 24.x. But I had run a test with 25.04 and there the NIC did work correct.

It’s possible to migrate from 24.x to 25.04 fangtooth and then some time later to 25.10 without doing a completly new install at all these steps ?

It should always be possible to upgrade from one version of TrueNAS to the next. Whether you could upgrade directly from, say, 24.10 to 25.10 is a bit less uncertain, but 24.10 to 25.04 to 25.10 certainly should work. There will be caveats to any upgrade–for example, if you have VMs under 24.10, those won’t automatically migrate to 25.04. But the upgrade should work, and if it doesn’t, that’s a bug.

Hi Dan,
I tried the update and it’s working now. Only the VM migration isn’t working automatically, as you mentioned.

But that’s really not a big problem and was very easy to solve.
