Updating to new versions when a few behind

OK, so I am woefully behind on version updates. I know I will need to reinstall Jellyfin but that is pretty much the only app I am using right now so I plan on taking screenshots of all the settings in hopes that I can replicate them. I did see there is a new version of Jellyfin that some have had issues upgrading to so I guess I am avoiding that. Not worried about losing any viewer data.

Beyond that, should I update one version at a time (say 24.04 to 24.10 to 25.04 or just 24.04 to 25.04)? Are incremental steps better than larger jumps? I was planning on just waiting for 25.10 but it looks like I may have some free time this weekend (and hopefully the bump from 25.04 to 25.10 will be relatively painless).

I do use SMB shares so trying not to break those.

Thanks for any input (yes, I know, I’m an idiot for not keeping up with current versions which would have allowed me to migrate my app…).

Yes, either update to the last release of the next major version and so forth or do a fresh install of the release you want to end up on and restore your config file.

Edit:
There’s a diagramm in the release notes
