Volume OFFLINE + Optimisation

Bonjour à tous, j’ai recyclé il y a quelques mois un Dell T330 (Xeon + 64 Go DDR4 ECC) équipé d’un PERC H330, avec plusieurs disques et plusieurs volumes en RAID-Z1 (TrueNAS Core 13.0-U6.8). Le réseau est en 10 Gb, les performances me conviennent parfaitement et tout allait pour le mieux…

C’est là que mon problème intervient : depuis quelques jours, un volume composé de 3 HDD de 14 To et d’un NVMe de 512 Go en cache (via un adaptateur PCIe) est passé en OFFLINE.

D’après ChatGPT et les différentes commandes que j’ai exécutées, les disques semblent tous OK et, en théorie, les données devraient être présentes. (si vous avez des suggestions de commande pour rechecker, je suis preneur)

Voici les erreurs que Truenas m’affiche :

1. Comment remettre ce volume en ligne en prenant le maximum de précautions possibles ?

2. Bruit et consommation
Comme dit plus haut, les performances sont bonnes, mais le bruit et la consommation énergétique commencent à me déranger sérieusement.
J’envisage d’acheter un Minisforum MS-01 (i9-12900H + 48 Go DDR5 + carte SAS) pour remplacer mon gros Dell (j’ai déja un ms-01 pour un Proxmox et j’en suis très satisfait).
J’aurais besoin de vos lumières sur plusieurs points :

  • Les performances seront-elles au rendez-vous pour un usage TrueNAS + éventuelles VM (ex. Jellyfin) ?

  • Quelle carte SAS me conseillez-vous ?

  • Quel système de stockage me recommandez-vous pour mes HDD (11 actuellement, avec une évolution possible dans les deux sens), NVMe et SSD ? rackable si possible, mais je suis ouvert a toutes les solutions.

3. TrueNAS Scale ou Core en cas de changement ?
Sachant que je n’exclus pas de mettre une VM Jellyfin (ou autre) directement sur le NAS.

Commençons par un état des lieux :

Les mini-PCs ne sont pas adaptés pour un NAS. Un problème évident est qu’il n’y aurait aucun refroidissement pour le HBA SAS.
Les racks ne sont pas silencieux, et 11 disques font du bruit. Si le bruit est le problème, la solution commence avec moins de disques durs, mais plus gros — et plutôt SATA que SAS pour se passer de HBA.

FreeBSD 13 n’est plus maintenu, donc le choix est entre TrueNAS CE (ex-SCALE) et FreeBSD 15 avec Sylve.

Pour ce qui est de remplacer mon Dell, c’est vrai que ça marche bien, il ne coûte plus rien mise a part l’électricité. Mais j’aime bien changer et tester des nouvelles choses, peut-être envisager un boitier Jonsbo N5 en modifiant la ventilation ?

Et pour l’évolution logiciel, je me tournerais plutôt sur TrueNas CE je pense. Une migration est possible à priori, selon les versions ? Il faut que je creuse.

En tout cas merci de prendre de votre temps pour m’aider a solutionner mon problème. Et d’ailleurs une idée du pourquoi de mon “OFFLINE” ?

Aucune idée… Le problème s’est provisoirement réparé tout seul, mais j’aimerais surtout comprendre pourquoi le H330 ne répond pas à sas3flash, et quelle est sa version de firmware.

tout ce que je sais, c’est que de mémoire je l’avais mis en HBA pour que Truenas gère tout comme un grand… Il faudrait que j’active IDRAC, ça pourrait m’être utile. Quels sont vos conseils pour les veilles de hdd ? actuellement j’ai tout désactiver (d’où peut-être la conso d’élec) et je tourne au environ de 130W est ce déconnant au regard de ce qui se fait avec du matériel plus moderne ?

Je suis toujours en OFFLINE sur mon volume MEDIA, est ce que je peux faire (relativement) sereinement :

zpool import -R /mnt MEDIA

Alors c’est un controlleur RAID qui n’est PAS recommandé pour TrueNAS. Il faudrait le remplacer par un simple HBA330 — ou un LSI générique.

Le T330 est bien un Xeon E ? Si oui, un processeur plus récent ne fera pas mieux.

Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1270 v6 @ 3.80GHz 8 threads, ben c’est clair que ça tourne plutôt bien avec la ram.

Oui, mais si possible il est toujours préférable d’importer par l’interface graphique.

Non, c’est une corruption du volume, qui pourrait bien être due au PERC H730. Un controlleur RAID même “en mode HBA” n’est pas un HBA convenable pour ZFS.

Donc la commande à tenter serait
zpool import -Fn MEDIA
avec n pour une tentative à blanc. Si la commande retourne sans erreur, la “vraie” est
zpool import -F -R /mnt MEDIA
Ajouter -o readonly=on pour éviter des changement irréversibles, inspecter le contenu et sauvegarder tout ce qui pourrait l’étre — mais pour 5 s ça n’en vaut probablement pas la peine.

A ce que j’ai compris, il faut que j’attend que le scrub se termine c’est ça ? Pour l’instant le volume n’est pas visible en UI.

PS : quelle carte HBA ou LSI me conseillez vous dans l’objectif de changer de hardware cm/cpu ?

Un LSI 9300-8i (ou équivalent Dell/HP/Lenovo) devrait faire l’affaire. Ou un 9400 si vous en trouvez à prix acceptable.

Je vais partir sur un 9400 je pense ça laissera de la marge. Je ferais ça d’ici quelques mois, le temps de trouver une nouvelle plate-forme.

Il est monté. S’il n’apparaît pas dans l’interface graphique, l’exporter (CLI) et essayer d’importer à nouveau (GUI).
