Why is Windows data volume significantly different (less) than ZFS data volume?

Greetings,

Can anyone share why the space reported by Windows for a set of folders with 1000 files or so would report significantly less than ZFS space used in the WebUI?

Pool where this is stored is RAIDZ1

It happens because ZFS space accounting is more complex than the knobs available to give file explorer over the SMB protocol (which does its own interpretation of space counters). Use ZFS-aware tools for ZFS space accounting.
