I inherited a system using a TrueNAS mini with 6TB drives x4 and I’m looking for advice before I declare the data lost. I’m in the situation where the pool is unavailable and there are 2 of the 4 drives which do not register with the camcontrol devlist command.
Assuming the worst case, I’m not real familiar with the ZFS / TrueNAS storage system, but I’m guessing the data is lost.
However, I did replace one of the failed drives in a vain effort and now the drive activity lights are flashing then the replacement drive as if there is data transferring.
Zpool status still doesn’t show the pool and zpool import shows the status as unavailable / in sufficient replicas. I looked for disk activity with gstat but it’s just zeros.
Why would the drive lights be active without any logical indication of activity?
I would work through the flowing and post back where you are in testing and what has worked or not.
We would also need better details on your system and problem
Also, when I re-seat the bad drives the camcontrol stops after 5 attempts.
Would the controller be performing actions independent of the TrueNAS system?
